As per Buddhist scriptures, our body is equated to a guest house and our mind has been compared to a guest dwelling within it. When a person dies his or her mind leaves the body and goes to the next life, same as a guest leaves a guest house and goes somewhere else.

Mind is a shapeless continuum that works to recognize and understand objects. As the mind is amorphous and non-physical by nature, it cannot be blocked by physical objects. It’s our responsibility to differentiate between disturbed states of mind and peaceful states. Some of the disturbed states can be anger, jealousy and keen attachment.

Our mind has so many delusions and the real meaning of spiritual practice is to decrease and ultimately to eliminate overall our delusions, and to reinstate them with everlasting inner peace.

Permanent release from the delusions can be found only by purifying the mind and yoga helps us a lot in this process. Yoga frees us from problems and helps us attain lasting peace and happiness needed to enhance knowledge and understanding of the mind.

Consciousness Mind

Consciousness Mind the perceptions, thoughts, feelings and awareness are part of consciousness. Consciousness is an interesting but indefinable fact. It can’t be specified exactly what consciousness is, how does it work or what’s the reason behind its development. He explained conscious mind, which is made of all the mental processes about which we know. For example, you might feel like taking water because you feel thirsty.

Subconscious Mind

The subconscious includes thoughts and sentiments that a person is not alert to at present, but which can simply be brought to awareness. It presents just under the level of consciousness. For example, presently you may not be thinking about any particular thing but you can recall that easily at any time if you know about it. Gentle emotional incidents may be present in the subconscious mind but sometimes disturbing and strong negative emotions are suppressed and can’t be find in the subconscious.

Our feelings, purposes and decisions are completely based on our old experiences, stored in the subconscious mind.

The three systems applied by Freud were the id, ego and superego. Id is considered as completely unconscious at the same time as the ego and superego have conscious, preconscious, and unconscious feature. He also regarded the mind similar to an iceberg, where the maximum part is hidden under the water or unconscious.

To other psychologists the notion of the unconscious mind has proved a source of significant disturbance because it confronts objective explanation and is tremendously difficult to objectively test or determine.
